Practitioner Spotlight: Sam Pierceall, L.Ac.

We're excited to introduce you to Sam Pierceall, one of our licensed acupuncturists here at Vital Qi. Sam brings a grounded, thoughtful presence to the clinic—and a unique journey into the world of East Asian medicine.

What inspired you to become an acupuncturist?
After traveling abroad and learning natural building and organic farming, I took a three-year certificate course on herbal medicine, which I absolutely loved. However, with all the amazing things plants could do, there were limits to what I could treat with them. After a brief study of acupuncture, I realized it seemed to fill in some of the gaps not covered by herbalism—it really felt like the next logical step for my personal journey as a healer.

What’s one thing you love most about working at Vital Qi?
I love the sliding scale days. They make me think quickly on my feet, and I appreciate that we’re making acupuncture accessible to people who might not otherwise be able to try it and discover what the medicine has to offer.

How do you like to unwind or recharge outside of the clinic?
I go for walks and hikes with my wife and our dog, Jet. We also love sitting in our garden and soaking in the crisp spring air.

What’s your favorite restaurant or food spot in town?
Oh man, there are so many great spots, I don't know if I can choose just one. We love Addis, Lillie Pearl, Garnetts, and Nami, to name a few.

Fun fact most people don’t know about you?
As a backpacker, I funded my travels and life abroad in part by making functional leather jewelry.
